I Am Karachi Day 2016

I AM Karachi celebrated the second official “I AM Karachi Day” on 26th March, 2016, at Frere Hall, Karachi. On the occasion of I AM Karachi Day, the first ever I AM Karachi Awards were presented to honor the contribution of city’s dedicated and unrecognized heroes.

The first I AM Karachi Awards have established themselves as the only civic responsibility and diversity awards exclusively for residents of the city. The award function was headlined by a spellbinding rock-symphonic version of the national anthem by Sounds of Kolachi with the talented youth of Karachi. Award winning pop stars Sara Haider, Zoe Viccaji and traditional singers were also showcased at the event.

President of I AM Karachi, Jameel Yusuf S.St described I AM Karachi Day as a, “celebration of the success of the city’s resilient spirit” and announced that the awards will be given out throughout the course of the year.

I AM Karachi Day ceremonies were hosted by Karachi icons Deepak Perwani and Atiya Khan who discussed the necessity of a diverse culture in a mega city like Karachi. This was followed by Vice President of Society for I AM Karachi, Mr. Amin Hashwani who announced the official launch of a city wide I AM Karachi Sports Festival that will begin next month. Founding member Ms. Rumana Hussain also announced the launch of a new wave of I AM Karachi ‘Walls of Peace’ – where young artists cover hateful graffiti with their artistic creations to reclaim public space.

The event was attended by business leaders, celebrities, socialites and many others, and the awards were distributed by notable figures including: Ronak Lakhani, Zubaida Mustafa, Talat Hussain, Ishrat Hussain and Fuzon.

Commissioner Karachi Asif Hyder Shah praised spirit of citizenship and said only if the citizens of Karachi will stand united, only then there is their hope for a prosperous Sindh and eventually a flourishing Pakistan.

J. Proudly Presents “HAR RANG APNA”

Pakistan’s top fashion retail brand J. launched their new collection “Har Rang Apna” on 4th February, 2016 in Dolmen Mall Clifton, Karachi.

J. is known for their traditional craftsmanship, and did not disappoint with its newest collection. Har Rang Apna is a perfect blend of traditional and contemporary design philosophy and was received with huge applause and appreciation by the attendees.

Har Rang Apna is inspired by truck art and boasts a range of outfits, including beautiful kurtis, exquisite jacquard, lawn triads, and more. The collection is a dazzling palette, with every colour of the rainbow represented. The sophisticated cuts and stylish embellishments lend a certain elegance to the whole volume.

Speaking about the collection, Ali Mufti (Head of Sales & Marketing) said,

“Truck art represents our country’s shades; we own the colours of Pakistan and are showcasing the best of our hues. Every province has its own flavor but a common thread of colour and surrealism defines the art that rooms the roods. It is truly a canvas pointed with all the colours of Pakistan.”

In attendance were some prominent personalities from the fashion and entertainment industry, including Shamoon Abbasi, Nadia Hussain, Javeria Saud, Abbas Jaffri, Junaid Khan, Omar Shahzad, Kiran Khan, Rubab, Sadia Imam, Areeba Habib, Sadaf kanwal, Aliya Imam and Deputy Speaker Sindh Assembly Dr. Shahla Raza along with MNA Shahida Rahmani.  Har Rang Apna, J.
